Lesson Policy
The purpose of this lesson policy is to present guidelines and to be as fair and efficient as possible for everyone’s benefit. Signing up for lessons reserves your time slot on the schedule. Please attend every lesson possible, as each time slot is important to you and your teacher.
Lessons Are Weekly
Your lessons will be on the same day and time every week and continue month to month throughout the year. Each lesson will be approximately a half hour. Experience has shown that students learn more efficiently and effectively with consistent weekly lessons. Students tend to practice and play less when they miss lessons. Weekly lessons also help your teacher maintain a fluent transition between sessions. Lessons can also be scheduled for an hour each week for students who desire more time and study.
Lesson Payments
Lesson payments are a flat monthly fee and due the 1st week of each month. The monthly fee will cover the entire month whether it is a 5-week, 4-week or 3-week holiday month. This payment system guarantees up to 48 lessons per year. However, you may benefit up to as many as 52 lessons (as there are 52 weeks per year) depending on the holiday calendar and weather conditions. This may significantly reduce the cost per lesson. The average for many students is 50 lessons per year. You may pay by cash, credit card or check made payable to Thomas Music Co. For your convenience you may also pay quarterly, semi annually or annually.
Cancelled Lessons
Please give a minimum 24-hour notice if you are unable to keep your scheduled lesson. Your advanced notice provides the necessary time to reschedule other students for their make-up lesson in your cancelled time slot. A make-up lesson is forfeited if the cancellation is less than 24 hours. Provisions are made for sudden sickness and family emergencies. Cancelled make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled.
Rescheduling A Lesson
Your make-up lesson can be scheduled during your call to cancel your lesson. If you cancel your lesson via voice/email, your teacher will return your call/email to reschedule. You may also schedule a make-up lesson during your next lesson.
Discontinuing Lessons
Please notify your teacher as soon as possible if you need to discontinue your lessons. This will help your teacher to be prepared for your final lessons and also to give ample notice for new students who desire to be on the schedule.
Your thoughts and suggestions about this policy are welcome. Our goal is to make this policy as fair and as effective as possible for everyone’s benefit.
